Well I am happy that Judo Forum II was a great event. Stephen I want you to be aware that this was subdizied by the USJA, USJF and CJI (California's branch of the USJI) and without those grants I wouldn't have pulled it off in the grand scale that we did. I managed to get, 2 Olympians, 5 national champions, a Kodokan 7th dan, and a world champ. Without receving over 6,000 dollars in grants if would have been difficult to get these people. Hopefully, you can get help from the BJC and BJA and other Judo bodies in the UK.

Here a few pointers:
Try and have everyone stay at the same place and share their meals.
Have other activities available, preferably on the premise at least within reasonable walking distance.
Space is so important. 1.75 tatami per participant is a good rule of thumb for a clinic as a minimum. You don't want injuries.
Set your dates well in advance so people can make travel plans.
Liquid refreshment facilities in close proximity is a must.

Unfortunately all junior national tournaments held in the US are in the summer and Ronda and AnnMaria will be busy with clinics during those times they have already committed to for the next two years so getting them to the UK might be difficult even if you pay they way. I was offered roundtrip airfare (business class), 5 star accommodations and meals paid to be a clinician in Peru and declined to try and keep my summner free for next year. So now the kata competition for me in Spain in probably out, but I'm still planning on making it to the UK. I hope you have a beach and warm weather.

True spirit of Judo is nothing but the gentle and diligent free spirit. Judo rests on flexible action of mind and body. The word flexible however never means weakness but something more like adaptability and open-mindedness. Gentleness always overcomes strength.

I just hope you have plenty of beer on hand. I plan to be thirsty.

Seriously though, Stephen has been over here twice for judo stuff and I hope to make it over there next year to reciprocate the favor...partially anyway.

By the way Steve, can beginner's do your camp? Since, as we talked in Paris, my dad might come with, I'd kinda like to mess with him and get him on the mat for a session so he can see a bit of what it's like.

Thanks for the advice Paul, I will approach the BJC and possibly the BJA, but I imagine the purse strings will be rather tight, I may have to front a lot of it myself, I will look into the other points you raise especially the sleeping arrangements and eating arrangements etc, that could prove tricky,

I guess it all depends on numbers,

Jason, you are not serious about your pop are you, how on earth can you get hold of your dad on the mat, you big bully, you know it will end in tears, more than likely yours, cos your dad will use old age and treachery,

Remember Paul
