On Sunday 11th October 5 Shinto members took part in a junior novice championship, designed for beginners held at The Sobel Centre. Entering her first championship was Rhiannon Shand (age7) who was put in with a group of boys. This didn’t deter her determination and fought very well to win a bronze medal. Extra credit went to Denvir Ibrahim (age6) who had another good day winning a silver medal and was also awarded the best spirit of the day award. Just days after celebrating his 8th birthday, Jordan Forbes Amos also fighting for the first time, executed a superb hip throw to help him win a bronze. Grifton Forbes Amos (age10) was put in a very difficult group with experienced judoka. He still gave a good effort and won a bronze. The day finished with Alethea Calvert Jordon who made two superb counter attacks on two difficult opponents to win her a gold medal.
