My tokui waza was Ippon Seoi Nage.

Then when I switched clubs a year ago something strange happened....well, strange for me.

A throw that I would never expect to become my favorite throw became my favorite throw.

O soto gari.

O soto gari developed for me when I was working on various grips and entries for ippon seoi nage, eri seoi nage, and morote seoi nage. It became a natural follow up for me on a blocked seoi nage attempt. It also improved my seoi nage because seoi nage became a natural follow up to a blocked o soto gari. Harai goshi (probably a bad looking one) also became a throw that has developed with my improvement of o soto gari because sometimes my position and my training partner's position isn't one where seoi nage is ideal.

Many of the throws I try to execute are based off of o soto gari.
